Abu Dhabi Media Company (ADMC), the largest and most diversified media group in the Arab world, is located in the United Arab Emirates. In February 2006, it ceased to rely on government and federal funding through the Ministry of Information and Culture and now enjoys some editorial and administrative independence. ADMC’s current product portfolio comprises a broadcast division that aims to play a leading role in the Arab world’s television industry, several radio stations that cover the UAE on FM and AM frequencies as well as online streaming, and some of the region’s leading publications such as Al Ittihad Newspaper, The National, Zahrat Al Khaleej and Majid Magazine.ADMC’s digital arm, ADMC Digital Group, is at the forefront of developments in digital media and operates across the digital landscape. Its business media ventures include Getmo.ae, Gazillion.com, and VEVO, which was invested in at a valuation of around $300m. It also operates sites such as www.adtv.ae (Abu Dhabi TV) and goalarabia.com. Its subsidiaries include a TV-facility and Production services to broadcasters and production houses (livehd.ae), a film production company (Imagenation Abu Dhabi), and UPP, the largest print and publishing company in Abu Dhabi. ADMC’s current strategy is to expand to the western media world.
